Draw the Difference 2026
Official Contest Rules

A national drawing contest by SensAble Child for Dyslexia Awareness Month.

The brief: Through your drawing, help the world see what a child with a learning difference experiences, the strengths they carry, and what changes when someone truly understands them. Choose one of the three topics.

1. Organiser

The contest is organised by Psysensable Child Development Service LLP (SensAble Child).

2. Eligibility

The contest is open to:

  1. Students currently enrolled in a UG, PG or diploma programme in Psychology or Counselling, Occupational Therapy, Special Education, Speech-Language Pathology, Physiotherapy, or Education; and
  2. Professionals working in these fields: psychologists, counsellors, special educators, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physiotherapists and teachers, in India or abroad.

Student winners may be asked to show a valid college ID.

SensAble Child staff, jury members and their relatives cannot enter.

3. Entry

Entry is free. One entry per person, submitted only through the official entry form. Uploading a drawing requires signing in to a Google account.

4. Topics

Entrants choose one of the following topics:

  • Through Their Eyes: what learning feels like from inside the mind of a child with a learning difference.
  • Different, Not Less: a child with a learning difference showing a strength, talent or way of thinking the world often misses.
  • The Moment I Understood: the moment someone finally understood a child who was struggling, and how the child’s world changed.

All three topics are judged together using the same criteria.

5. Format

  • Drawings only: entries must be hand-drawn on paper or card with pencil, pen, charcoal, crayon, colour pencils, sketch pens, markers, watercolour or poster colours.
  • Size: A4 or A3 recommended.
  • How to submit: upload a clear photo or scan of your drawing (JPG or PNG, maximum 10 MB), taken straight on, in good light, with the whole drawing visible.
  • Caption: include a short caption (50–100 words) explaining your drawing and the topic you chose.
  • Keep your original: finalists and winners may be asked to send a photo of themselves holding the original drawing to verify it’s their own work.

6. Originality

  • Entries must be your own original work.
  • Not accepted: Copied or traced artwork, digital art, photographs, collages, printed images, clip-art and AI-generated images.

7. Child protection

Do not include any real child’s face, name, school or identifying details. Drawings must be respectful and strengths-based. Mocking or stigmatising entries will be disqualified.

8. Timeline

  • Entries: 2 October to 13 October 2026, 11:59 PM IST
  • Shortlist candidates announced: 14 October 2026
  • Voting: 14 October, 10:00 AM to 17 October 2026, 8:00 PM IST
  • Results: 18 October 2026

9. Judging

  • An expert jury in child development, learning disabilities and fine arts selects up to 20 finalists using these criteria: insight into learning disability (40%), strengths-based and empathetic message (25%), creativity and visual impact (20%), caption clarity (15%).
  • Public voting: finalists are posted on SensAble Child’s official Instagram page, and 1st to 5th places are decided by the most likes.
  • Jury awards: after voting, the jury selects Best Student Entry, Best Caption and 3 Special Mentions from all valid entries that have not already won a vote prize.

10. Voting

  • Where to vote: only likes on the entry’s official post on SensAble Child’s Instagram account count. Likes on reposts, stories, shares or other accounts do not.
  • When to vote: from 14 October, 10:00 AM to 17 October 2026, 8:00 PM IST. Likes before or after this window are not counted.
  • Final count: when voting closes, SensAble Child takes a timestamped screenshot of every finalist’s post. That screenshot is the final vote count.
  • Fair play: buying likes, using fake or bot accounts, or any unusual activity (such as a sudden, unexplained spike in likes) may lead to disqualification, at SensAble Child’s discretion.
  • Ties: if two entries have the same number of likes, the one with the higher jury score ranks higher.

11. One prize per person

Each entrant can win only one prize. Vote-based prizes are decided first; jury awards are then given only to entries that have not already won.

12. Prizes worth over ₹35,000

  • Cash: 1st place ₹5,000; 2nd place ₹2,500; 3rd place ₹1,500; Best Student Entry (students only) ₹1,250; Best Caption ₹1,250. Paid by bank transfer or UPI within 15 days of the results.
  • Course vouchers: worth ₹4,800 each, for 4th and 5th place and 3 Jury Special Mentions. See ‘Course vouchers’ in section 16 for the terms.
  • E-certificates for all valid entries. All finalists also receive a finalist certificate and a feature in the digital exhibition.

All winners must send a clear, recent photograph of themselves, preferably holding their original drawing, within 5 days of being contacted.

  • SensAble Child may use the winner’s photograph, name, profession or course, college or workplace, city and drawing in results announcements and for future promotion. This includes social media, the website, newsletters, print materials (such as calendars and brochures), press releases, and promotion of future editions of the contest and SensAble Child’s programmes.
  • The artist will be credited by name, and no fee is payable for this use.
  • A winner who does not provide a photograph may still receive the prize, but SensAble Child may announce the result using the drawing only.

13. Usage rights

Entrants keep ownership of their work but grant SensAble Child permission to post, exhibit and publish it, with credit to the artist, on social media, in a digital exhibition and in print materials (for example, a calendar).
